About Me

Hello, my name is Morgan and I run Blue Fish Tuition.

I’ve been teaching English for 8 years.

I hold a BA in Creative Writing, a PGCE in Secondary English, QTS, TEFL and DBS.

As a tutor, I’ve successfully helped many students to secure coveted spots and scholarships at top independent schools, such as St Pauls, Westminster, and City.

Before I started tutoring full time, I taught in secondary and prep schools around London.

Although I first started teaching out in Beijing where I taught English as a Second Language.

There I also tutored for an education consultancy helping prepare students for entrance exams.

My aim is always to both help students gain top marks in their exams and enjoy learning English.

I try to go beyond simply preparing my students for specific exams and also develop the skills which will enable them to flourish in later years academically.

Generally, I believe it’s better to slow down the pace and keep working on a piece of writing or an answer to a question until it’s where it needs to be.

A problem with the way English is taught in schools is that students flit from one task to the next.

It’s all about pace. Pace. Pace. Pace.

But English is actually a slow and methodical business, and if students don’t know how to approach a task they need to be guided step by step, slowly.

Also students need to see what a top essay or response looks like before they can write one themselves, but often they aren’t shown model answers.

That’s why I often write with my students and always provide model answers, essays, short stories, speeches. And I’ve found this approach to be very successful.
