English tutor based in Twickenham, London

Hi, I'm Morgan
I’ve been teaching English for 10 years. I hold a BA in Creative Writing, a PGCE in Secondary English, QTS and a TEFL.
As a tutor, I’ve successfully helped students to secure coveted places at top schools at most entry points but primarily through 11 and 13 Plus exams: students have received offers from many top UK schools including St Paul’s, Westminster, Hampton and Tiffin Girls’s School.
I’ve helped students secure top grades in both GCSE English Language and Literature and helped students leap four grades from their mock exams.
I cover all aspects of English, but I particularly enjoy helping students with creative writing and have a keen personal interest in Shakespeare.

I found my love for teaching out in Beijing, where I taught English as a Second Language.
There I also tutored for an education consultancy, helping prepare students for 11 Plus, as well as GCSE English exams.
It was very fulfilling, and in 2019 I returned to London, where I grew up, to complete a PGCE in Secondary English.
Then I taught in prep schools and secondaries around London for a couple of years before deciding to return to what I love most: tutoring.
Over the last five years, I’ve been a full-time tutor, GCSE examiner and Substack author.
On my Substack, I share model solutions to 11 Plus and GCSE English questions and tasks, and provide guidance for answering difficult questions.
It’s this habit of writing model responses and considering the easiest ways to approach questions which helps me to provide accurate, effective advice for all of my students to help them fulfil their academic potential.
My aim is to help students achieve top marks in their exams, and to make learning English simpler.
From my experience in the classroom, students often whizz from task to task. The benefit of one-to-one tuition is that students have the time they need to develop key skills, which is why classes are typically devoted to individual topics. Each lesson is sequenced to build on or complement the last, and students follow structured units of work so that topics are covered comprehensively.
Additionally, I know students need to read model answers before they can attempt to write top-grade responses themselves, but often won’t have access to good examples. That’s why I write alongside my students during lessons, and through this collaborative approach, I’ve found students really excel.
